I don't really understand anything about profiles in Thunderbird, so here goes. I downloaded and installed Version 60 so I could use the importexport tools to move my emails from Windows Live Mail to Thunderbird. I set up a number of folders under Local Folders. I exported my Windows Live Mail then went to Firebird and spent a lot of time importing the emails into the desired folders. Everything looked good. Then I exited Thunderbird and when I started it again it updated to version 68 (even though I feel sure I set it to "ask before updating" or something similar) and was forced to create a new profile. Now all my emails that I painstakingly imported are not available, though they seem to be in the old profile. How can I get access under this new profile? Will this all happen again the next time there is an update to Firebird?

I guess this might help, you probably only need to force Thunderbird to use your old profile. See https://thunderbirdtweaks.blogspot.com/2019/09/i-lost-my-profilemail-on-update-to.html

You also did not need to use V60. There is a new import export tools for those after V60 when Paolo stopped updating his release.

Thanks for your help. Everything is looking good now. Before, the only tool I was finding to import the emails was an old one I suppose because it would not load. Now, after using Live Mail for so long, I hope I can learn to use TB - LOL.
