Gmail icons missing in Firefox
when composing an email in gmail, the icons in the lower portion of the compose window are missing.

Make sure you are not blocking content.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

No luck. Note that even in the gmail main screen icons are missing.
Remove History For One Site {web link}
Open the History Manager <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> H. In the search bar, enter the name of the site. Right-click on one of the listings and select Forget About This Site. This should remove all information, including any site settings
What security software do you have?
It is possible that your security software is blocking downloadable icon fonts since this also happens in Google Chrome.
Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support to see if that has effect in case security software is causing problems.
