How to go to previous page without reloading it?

How can I make it so that if I press a certain key, for example Backspace, it goes to the previous page but without reloading the data?

For example if I go to reddit.com/new and click on one of the links, I want to be able to backspace afterwards and still look at the original page of news instead of having it refresh to a new set of links.

You can open the links in a new tab via a middle-click or by holding down Ctrl and a left-click, then you can close this tab to return to the original page.
