Copy and Paste Without Formatting, as a reasonable default?
I can't determine whether these options are tied to the underlying operating system or not (I suspect it is, and I'm sure someone will point that out). However, in all the years I've been using the Internet and applications, I almost never need to paste content with formatting. Generally I'm including that content in a different context and it needs to be uniform.
I can't imagine I'm alone in that, hence my question about having "Copy and Paste Without Formatting" as the default (Paste, CTRL-V and you're done), and "With Formatting" as something you would need to navigate through a menu for.
Am I the only one that is frustrated with this? LOL

Hmm, should the default change? I don't know. But for now, the keyboard shortcut for pasting without formatting on Mac is Command+Shift+V. (Keyboard shortcuts - perform common Thunderbird tasks quickly)
Yes I am aware of that portion of the keyboard. I simply wanted to see what others thought and if it were possible to change the default behavior, either directly through an application or at the OS level.
Yes, I did make a recommendation to Apple, as I am on MacOS. But the above refers specifically to Thunderbird.
If it's possible to override this functionality, it would be a great thing for the config://
I personally would find it frustrating if the standard keyboard shortcuts worked the opposite of all my other applications. But maybe others can partition their muscle memory better than I can and would like that option.
If your default format is plain text instead of html, paste without formatting isn't even available, so normal paste achieves the same result. But for html format, I don't see them changing the current method.
