Tried to use update in TBird, from 91.12.0 to 102.1.2 won't complete. It keeps coming up requesting a restart to update. I'm stuck with all panels blank. Have tried clearing cache, restarting TBird, rebooting computer. Antivirus and firewall are set to allow TB update to run, logs show connections are going through unhindered. OS: Win10

There seem no option to abort the update and down rev. to prior.

Any help is appreciated.

You are downloading the latest version of Thunderbird. The download seems to be oké from 91.0.12.0.to 102.1.2version’s of Thunderbird. This update prefer a manual update instead of the automatic one.

You did the update this way can I ask?

Visit the Thunderbird homepage in the browser address bar Click on the Free download button Run the installer, when the Thunderbird setup wizard opens, click Next and keep Standard selected and then click Upgrade on the next step, To sum it up, you don’t need to make any changes when you accept default options in Thunderbird 102 installer.

Your data, settings, and profile will be preserved when you install it in the same location. After that, the new Thunderbird will open automatically.

Go back to your 91.0 installation and take a fresh copy of Thunderbird 102.1.2. https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/102.0/releasenotes/

Try to reinstall the version and get back with a message to us. Greetings Firefox volunteer.

Tried the steps above and still only had blank screens. Tried back revving and error messages about incompatible folders, etc.

Tried installing with 102 again and blank screens.

Uninstalled, cleaned registry, reinstalled 91.12, sign-in server folders are good. Changed local folders to prior profile.

But, all settings, filters, address book are missing. What steps to restore them?

If you can go into Thunderbird Software version 102.1.2. Go into options Try to go to hardware acceleration option. And try to turn that off.

Does this solve something,oke.

You are fortunate that you could not update to ver. 102.1.2, which is broken. I did the update, after which new message headers show up but all the messages are blank. Luckily a Windows restore got me back to prior version of Tbird. But I haven't seen any acknowledgment from Mozillla about a broken update to Tbird.

 But how does one install the direct download? Does one have to first uninstall current Tbird installation? No instructions.

Hi there. I have this problem, too. I agreed to the automatic update, which did not finish. I am not certain precisely which version I was on, 91.8.0? Blank screen. Tried uninstalling and re-installing 91.8.0 Gave me a message that my profile had been modified, and that I must create a new profile. Thought I would do that and try moving my old files back, but it didn't remember any of my account settings so I stopped. Tried installing 91.13.0, hoping it could "read" the updated files, but it went straight to the new profile screen.

How do I get years of email back?

Absolutely nothing has worked for me either for v. 102. About to download an older version from MacUpdate and hope I can stem the tide until they fix this, or someone figures out how. Thanks everyone for sharing your attempts. I've tried them all to see if they'd work for me. Alas...
