Cannot get rid of "google updater" & I did not install it.

Firefox 3.6.10. called Google Update 1.2.183.23. I went through the troubleshooting for uninstalling plugins but google is not listed in about:config (nor almost ALL my other ones). I deleted profile.dat but all that did was enable all plugins that are listed & that I had disabled. I did not install this plugin-google update either. WIN xp srv pk3

I'm not seeing Google Update in your above posted system details.
Did you disable that plugin?

You can use this method to see the location of that plugin.
