In the lower left hand corner all I get is Done. I can view these files with other browsers. Previous versions of firefox worked fine.

I solved a similar problem when I had both Adobe Reader plugin and Foxit plugin active. I disabled the Adobe Reader plugin, restarted Firefox and everything worked fine. I later decided to un-install Adobe Reader and now use Foxit exclusively.

Also check your setting for .pdf content types in Tools > Options > Applications. See:
