How do I find the navigation bar? I've lost the forward and back arrows. Someone suggested right clicking on Firefox but I can't see anything which says navigation bar

I downloaded Bearshare - stupidly! - and it somehow turned off my navigation bar. Bearshare is now history but how do I find the navigation bar? It's annoying not having the right and left arrows or a home box. Someone suggested I right click on Firefox and I've done that with it on my desktop, in the programme list, everywhere I can but nowhere do I see anything that says navigation bar. I'm using Windows. Help please.

See if this helps:

Press the orange Firefox button, and then go "Preferences->Toolbar Layout..." Or, Press alt and then "View->Toolbars->Customize..."

Now you can drag and drop the different buttons shown onto your browser window. Just select the arrows and home button and put them where you want. I hope that helps

I don't have a Preferences in the Firefox box at the top of the page. That suggestion has been made too in the past. I found something on here which is supposed to tell you how to activate the arrows but of course it doesn't work. How do you right click on the spare part of the address thing if that doesnt' appear! Presssed ALT and nothing. Why does everything have to be so damn difficult? Thanks for trying. I appreciate it.

Open the Firefox SafeMode and use Reset toolbars and controls.

If the menu bar is hidden then press the F10 key or hold down the Alt key, that should make the menu bar appear.

Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"

  • If items are missing then open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
  • If a missing item is in the toolbar palette then drag it back from the Customize window on the toolbar
  • If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.

Well somehow the navigation bar came up when I right clicked on Firefox for the umpteenth time and then clicked on options. I swear it wasn't there before. Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I'm going to save this page for if - when! - I manage to turn off the bar again.
