Chosen solution

Please do the following.

  1. Right click a blank part of the Tab bar and choose Customize.

  2. A panel will open which you can ignore.

  3. On the right hand side of the Tab bar, you'll see a "+" sign (plus character).

  4. Drag that to somewhere else on the toolbar and it will become a button.

  5. Click the "Done" button.

You should now have a new tab button visible on the toolbar.
