-> What to do if you can't download or save files
It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.
Try to Disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.
Check and tell if its working.
How is the scan of files in the anti-virus software done ? And how is it undone if that does not cure the problem ? Is there a way to download files with secured accuracy ? Is this something Firefox should be able to guard against ?
Did you try the 2 links mentioned in my previous reply ?? Did they help ??
Try Disabling your Security softwares (they might be interfering with Firefox) and then start the Download.
Check and tell if its working.
Modified
Make sure that Firefox gets installed properly.
Open the DMG file and drag the Firefox program to the application folder on your hard drive.
You shouldn't double-click the Firefox application to run it from the disk image, but drag it out of the DMG folder instead.
See:
That brought up the mount opportunity, but trying to drag the Firefox icon to the app icon reported "no permission for some of the items included in 7.0.1 However, I am the administrator and read-write permission is verified. Now what ?
After fooling around with several approaches, I opened the file in the download folder; that brought up just the 7.0.1 icon alone, without the app icon shown. I then dragged it to the apps folder in finder and saw the Firefox icon pop up in the dock. "About Firefox" in that icon verified it was 7.0.1 !
One nice thing about this approach is that the previous version of Firefox is still in the apps folder is still in the apps folder, so it was not replaced and is available if it ever is preferred.
Thanks cor-el for your help !
- Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
- Install the new version that you have downloaded
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data.
