It might be nice for updates, if you would tell in a communication box, which current add-ons will not work with a new Firefox. I have lost so many add-ons that I use all the time. I have been trying to get the Ancestry Enhanced Viewer to work even using the Firefox compatibility but that did not help.

I never would have installed 7 if I knew this before installing.

Is there anyone else that got Ancestry Enhanced Viewer to work with 7?

iirc the updates now do warn what is being disabled before the update proceeds so you have the option to abort it, they should have done that from the start.

edit

I did not notice any posts saying it works. Consider installing firefox portable using firefox 3.6.23 and use that for the ancestry site and firefox 7 for day to day browsing.

You could contact the ancestry site and see what they say. Firefox 8 will be out soon, and Firefox 3.6 may not be supported much longer. Surely the site is not going to force users into using an unsupported browser that will be a security risk

I downloaded 7 today. The only way I knew that enhanced viewer was not supported was after I signed into Ancestry and had lost the viewer. There was no message before 7 was loaded.

I have contacted Ancestry about the problem to see if they will be creating a supported add-on.

Thanks for the reply.
