Firefox crashes on opening even in safe mode. I get the message "Firefox had a problem and crashed. We'll try to restore your tabs and windows when it restarts".

I am using the latest version and have tried reinstalling it.

I have Scotts gmail alert among my addons and this seems to be accessing my emails on starting up firefox.

Your crashreport:

Firefox 7.0.1 Crash Report [@ _purecall | nsXPTCStubBase::QueryInterface(nsID const&, void**) ]
This may be related to Trusteer Rapport. Try to disable it and see if that stops the crashing. For more help you can ask their helpdesk.

I have used truteerapport in the past but do not seem to have it installed any longer.

I now have got a message saying "System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception (0x80004005): An error occurred in sending the command to the application
at System.Diagnostics.Process.StartWithShellExecuteEx(ProcessStartInfo

startinfo)

at System.Diagnostics.Process.Start(ProcessStartInfo startinfo)
at ScottsGmailAlert.Operations.Open_Gmail_In_Browser(Int32 Account, Boolean Account_With_Messages)

so I think it's related to Scott's gmailalert. The browser seems to work in safe mode if I type the path in (as opposed to using the shift key as directed in help). I've removed the gmail addon but am still getting problems.

It seems like removing the addon is not enough and it has installed some additional software on your computer. Did you check in the control panel of windows to see if there is some software with a strange name that may be installed without you knowing?
