how to disable firefox 8 new feature automatically closes similar tabs?
i just upgraded to firefox 8 and whenever i open a new tab that is similar to an already opened tab, that tab automatically closes for example: 1. i open google.com 2. i open another tab and enter google.com 3. the tab that i created in number 2 automatically closes and i am redirected to the tab i created at number 1
how do you make it so that i can have more than 1 similar tabs opened in firefox?

If you try to open the same URL in more than one tab then you may have the "Switch to Tab" feature preventing that.
- Press the Shift key while an entry in the drop down list is highlighted to disable "Switch to Tab" and see the URL.
- Use the cursor Right key to select an item marked as Switch to Tab in the drop down list and copy the URL to the location bar.
- Open the URL in a new tab by using Alt + Enter on the highlighted entry.
- Open the URL in the current tab by using Shift + Enter on the highlighted entry.

That is an option of the the "Multiple Tab Handler" extension that appear in the Tabs Context Menu. You can uncheck the items you do not want by going to the extension's options in Tools ("Alt+T") > Add-ons > "Extensions" > "Multiple Tab Handler > Options then look in the Tab Context Menu.
