I can't change the home page to my choice (google.com), somehow this application has hijacked the plane at some point:

when firefox starts up, instead of going to my home page, google.com that I set in the options menu, it goes here:

http://www.searchqu.com/406

When I try to reset the home page now (to google) I get this pop-up in the right hand side of the windows 7 toolbar that says "you tried to reset the home page, disallowed".

wtf? It's driving me crazy, I can't get rid of it. If you can't help, I am going to reinstall firefox clean and hope that does it. I love firefox! I hate this thing! Please help.

Do a malware check with some malware scan programs. You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database before doing a scan.
