When I try opening this site, "http://itunes.apple.com/jp/artist", Firefox keeps adding a new tab. I have nothing to do without killing Firefox process. This happens 100% and experienced with v3.6.24 and 8.0.1. Does anyone know the solutions?

Chosen solution

You get that problem if you select the Firefox program to handle a file if you get an "open with" dialog.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Thanks, it works!

The setting for handling "itms" file had been the "Firefox", and I had changed it to "iTunes".
