This is an intentional feature of firefox. I daresay there is some sort of hack that will remove it, but in normal use it is a handy feature, and a security aid, because it shows the actual link that is to be used.

You can use this extension to hide the pop-up that shows the URL of a link on hover and other data that previously appeared on the Status bar.
