Firefox 3.x works, however after upgrading to 10.0.2 it will crash whenever starting up.

Platform: Windows 2003 Terminal Server with Citrix.

We have excluded the firefox.exe from the ctxhook and it doesn't help (we know this fixes crashing on startup on Xendesktop deployments).

Ok, let's do a few things here.

First, update to Firefox 11. It does have a few minor bug fixes which may help your crash here. You can download it from www.getfirefox.com.

Second, try starting Firefox up in Firefox Safe Mode. Let's see if it works there.

The Firefox Crashes article may also have some helpful tips for diagnosing what may be the problem here.

Updated to 11.0. New crash report : bp-7a33a13a-a592-4511-b515-f03e82120314

Can't get into Firefox to do safe mode through the menus. Holding down shift while starting it still crashes it.

Fully patched machine.

Alright so the crash (https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/7a33a13a-a592-4511-b515-f03e82120314) is in [@ PL_DHashTableOperate | LdrGetProcedureAddress ]. Apparently some issue with addons?

Please try creating a fresh profile for testing https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles and we can see if the crash happens there.

Thanks for pointing out that crash-stats website. DgApi.dll is Digital Guardian by Verdasys. Essentially monitoring software that the company uses to make sure users are not doing anything they shouldn't. Disabling that fixed it.

Does Digital Guardian add an extension to Firefox?

(also discussed here: [/questions/930311])

I don't think Digital Guardian adds an extension to Firefox. I get the same crash problem even if I try to start Firefox in safe mode.

It doesn't add an extension directly into Firefox. It will have about 4 processes running in the background that monitors any software on the system for file copies, websites browsed, etc. As a test you can kill the Digital Guardian processes (they all begin with DG e.g. dgservice.exe, etc.) assuming you don't have the software running to where users cannot kill the DG processes.

If that works then there is a configuration file in C:\Program Files\DGAgent where you can add an exception to the files that Digital Guardan monitors and just tell it not to monitor firefox.exe. I'm not at work at the moment otherwise I could be more specific. If you need more information than this let me know.

I don't have administrative rights on this laptop, but I may be able to edit the configuration file in C:\Program Files\DGAgent. So, yes, please provide additional details when you can. Much appreciated.
