MacOS 10.6.8 -> Firefox 11.0 -> Preferences -> Applications tab

Select on "pdf". Two items pop up:

  1. Adobe PDF document -> Use QuickTime Plug-in 7.6.3 (in Fir...
  2. Preview.app Document (application/po... -> Use PDF Browser Plugin 2.4.2 (in Firefox)

Both document types should use the PDF Browser Plugin. I don't know how this got misconfigured. It worked last week.

However, when I go to change it (choose "Use other..." on the pop-up), and navigate to /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/..., all the plug-in files are dimmed! None of them can be selected.

Why do you suppose all these plug-in files are dimmed? What can I do to undim them?

You can check the MIME settings in QuickTime and try to remove PDF.

You can also try to delete the mimeTypes.rdf file in the Firefox Profile Folder to reset all file actions.
