After clicking the Mozilla icon on my desktop, a Google window opens with a Google icon on the top where there should be a Mozilla icon. There is no toolbar near the top so I can't use your suggestions to fix the problem by clicking the nonexistent Mozilla icon. In addition, the entire window slides up to obscure the www. address bar. It slides back down when I move the cursor to the top.

Sounds as though Firefox is stuck in full screen mode. To switch between full screen and normal, press the F11 key.

Edit: if you do not have an F11 key on your keyboard, right-click at the very top (above any bar that floats down) and you should get a short menu with the option to Exit Full Screen Mode.

Does that fix it?

Thank you very much for you very sage advise. After I posted this question, I was "fooling around trying to see what I could do. I found a prompt about "full screen" and "Eureka. I have no memory of changing to "full screen."

Again, thank you for your quick reply
