There appear to be several different ways to display a pdf file from a browser. One is just opening another tab and displaying the file. This way works. Another option is a 'download' window will open up downloading the pdf file which can then be displayed successfully. A third way is that another external window opens with some application verbiage displayed which is then overwritten by the actual pdf file. This method does not work for me. I have to go to Chrome or, pardon the expression, IE, to get the pdf files displayed in this manner.

I have a jpg of the opened window with no pdf data displayed but I didn't know how to include it.

Thank you.

I'll cheat and use the Reply message to include my window which does not display the pdf file. Normally, in Chrome which works, in the 'Loading' area there will some crosshatching running through until evidently the file is loaded when it then displays in this same window.

Can you try in safe mode please? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_Safe_Mode

Restarted FF in FF_Safe_Mode and tried the pdf display. The new window opened up, the download window opened and a new Adobe Reader opened up and displayed my pdf file. Something's changed. Went to FF->options->options->applications and found the Adobe Acrobat Document set to the default mode. Set to 'Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox)', went back to test scenario; the new window opened up with loading display FOLLOWED BY MY PDF FILE! Does this mean it's something I set up - which is painfully little because I leave that stuff to you gurus whenever possible.
