I cannot listen to Amazon MP3 samples (m3u) without responding to a prompt whether to open with software or save. I just want it to play on the Amazon page.

This used to work in Firefox but it doesn't now. I don't want to open a separate software on audio web sites such as Amazon and other sound and music sites. I want to click on the icon to listen to a sample and then just hear it play. I will add that on Internet Explorer and Google Chrome playing music this way works perfectly but I prefer to use Firefox as my main browser. It is many more clicks and response time delays to go to another software to listen and then have to back out (or close out) and return to where I was.

Chosen solution

I didn't want to do anything about Real Player because I use it and its features, especially the download. I didn't want to disable or uninstall this valuable software. I ended up uninstalling Flash 11.3 and reinstalling an earlier version (10.3) and now everything works again. Absolutely everything! Thank you so much for your help. I wouldn't have stumbled on this solution by myself (I don't think)!

Are you using the single-sample button to the left of the track or the Preview All Songs button above the list? These features uses the Flash player plugin. Have you noticed any other sites where Flash isn't working correctly? This article might help: Flash 11.3 doesn't load video in Firefox.

Thank you for your response, jscher. Yes, I'm using the single-sample button to the left of the track. As a matter of fact, Flash recently updated and it seemed to be quite a major upgrade. I realize now that there are a whole series of things that don't seem right since in Firefox. I can't play videos on YouTube and in Pogo (game site) there are some games that won't load and there are white boxes on some of the screens. When I encounter these things I use Internet Explorer or Google Chrome to get around it for the time being. Often these things work themselves out with subsequent updates. I looked at the content of your link and will consider following those steps to see if the problems go away. I also updated Real Player lately and that is another topic in your link. Everything was fine just a couple of weeks ago. I might need to downgrade to prior versions if possible.

I had the same problem in FF and Chrome. I thought it was them with the new updates messing something up. Nope, it was a new extension I installed. HTTPS Everywhere. If you are using that or something similar. I turned it off for Amazon Web Services and it worked again like it used to. :-)

Thanks for the tip. HTTPS Everywhere was causing the same issue for me as well. Cheers!
