I've been trying to uninstall an older version of Firefox so I can install a newer version. I go into install/uninstall and try to uninstall the older version and it says that I need to restart the system but it doesn't finish the uninstall when I restart the system

To update to a newer version of Firefox you don't need to uninstall the previous version. Read Update Firefox to the latest release

I tried downloading and installing the latest version as you suggested and I continue to get the reply that I need to reboot the system to finish uninstalling the previous version of Firefox before the newest verson can finish installing.
