YouTube videos usually don't load unless...

Hey guys,

This is my first time on the forum, so I would appreciate some help as well as some leniency if I sound stupid.

So anyways... sometimes, YouTube videos I try to play load and play just fine, but most of the time, the video won't start until I change the quality. For example, if my video is by default on 240p, it won't even begin playing until I change it 480p or 720p, and then it will play perfectly. I use Flash Player 10.3.

Can anyone explain why videos won't work unless I change quality?

Thanks a bunch

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Try updating to Flash 11.5, and also try to Reset Firefox. Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings
