I would like to view only HTML5 videos on YouTube, but I don't want to join theHTML5 trail. So how do I configure Firefox to play YT videos in HTML5 is possible to set flash as on-demand for certain sites or would it have to be configured this way for all sites?

By the way I recently tried an extension called [url]=https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/youtube-flash-to-HTML5/?src=userprofile]YouTube Flash to HTML5/url and it works really well but there's still a 'few' videos on YT that aren't optimized for HTML5, I also tried [url]=https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/flashdisable/]FlashDisable/url but the problem with this extension is that it completely disables flash. :( Then there's http://www.videojs.com/ which I just discovered today.

I'm sorry to tell that some YouTube videos are not always in the format required for HTML5 compatibility.

However, I recommend you to try YouTube TV - a HTML5 version of YouTube which will probably do what you need.

Just visit https://www.youtube.com/tv/ to give it a try.

Use the permission manager to only disable the flash plugin.

Thanks marcsances I kinda forgot about this subdomain I believe it was formally known as YouTube XL anyways its the exact same YT service that's available on media devices like game consoles :) , but unfortunately its not an ideal environment for desktop browsers :P either way its a nice mention. Hopeful Google will have 99% of the bugs worked out HTML5 by years end.

And good advice Waka_Flocka_Flame but I already thought about this and what I'm trying to do is disable/blacklist flash playback on YT by default and if necessary (if a video doesn't support HTML5) temporally re-enable itself, I mean hypothetically it should be possible to configure (about:config) Firefox to this. 8-|

You can add &html5=1 to the URL to get an HTML5 video when available.

This method isn't as effective as the extension I'm using since it is able to convert nearly any YT video to HTML5 how ever there is an extension available that adds &html5=1 automatically : https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/youtube-html5-video/?src=search , thanks for mentioning it though. :) Now I'm wondering if there's a way to configure Adobe Flash that when your watching a web & or YT video in Firefox that flash will automatically suspend itself allowing enough time for 'YT Flash to HTML5' to kick in and if the video doesn't support HTML5 then Shockwave Flash would kick in.

Tell me your thoughts please?
