Every time I open Firefox, I get the following error: Error: TypeError: netscape.security.PrivilegeManager is undefined

I never had this before. Where does it come from? What does it mean? How do I get rid of it? I'm running Firefox 24.0 on a Lenovo desktop running Vista

hello twowheelaj, this error is most likely caused by an outdated extension (avg toolbar might be one of them) - to check that, please launch firefox in safe mode once & see if you can replicate this error message then. if not, please try disabling your addons until you find the right one & keep it disabled in case there is no update available for it...

It turned out that the problem was related to Java. Once I loaded the most current program, the error went away.
