I have been asked repeatedl to update my Firefox but when I select the download option it simply continues to "search" for the download server. What's going on?

As stated, I select the download option when a pop-up tells me that I need to update my Firefox; however, nothing happens. It continuously "searches" for the download server. I eventually have to close it just to get it off the screen. I have a MacBook Pro.

Hello doha, if you have problem with update firefox the better way is to download and install the new version.

1. Download a copy of the latest firefox from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html

2. Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean install.

3. Install the version that you have downloaded.

While this may be a legitimate message, it could also be malware or a virus. Any time you want or need to check for upgrades, go to the web site of the true owner of the program in question. For example, to check out Firefox, go to Mozilla.org or Firefox In Any Language.
