Why does a new tab open when I click a page on google?

When I click on a page in Google after searching it up through there, a new tab opens with the page and the Google tab remains. This does not happen on the Mozilla start page.

hello, this might be a preference in your google search settings. go to google.com/preferences and disable the option to Open search results in a new browser window.
