Ever since updating to 27.0 a few days ago, I am no longer able to middle-click on images in Google Images search results in order to open them in a new tab. When doing so, the new tab only contains a blank page with a gray background. This is quite an annoyance, because I have always opened many images at once in multiple tabs if I wanted to quickly compare something. At first I thought this was a bad change made by Google, however, I discovered that I am able to open the image search results in new tabs in other browsers, so I concluded that the culprit must have been the update, because it only became an issue after it. Thank you for any information.

You can check if there is a shield icon to the left of the "Site Identity Button" (globe/padlock) on the location bar that mixed active content is blocked.

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:

Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

All those steps have already been attempted. The issue is not just specific to my computer, as I have noticed it happens on every computer I have used 27.0 on. I was even able to reproduce it by updating an older version of Firefox, so it is clear that the 27.0 update is the culprit. Thank you.

No problems here.

Can you try this is a new and clean profile without any modifications?

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem.

Deleting the profile corrected the issue. I was not aware of the Profile Manager feature. Thank you for the assistance.
