I have an issue that I would well appreciate if you help me resolve it. I've just formatted my Pc due to windows issues and naturally I've lost my bookmarks when I installed firefox again. Is there a way of retrieving my bookmarks again? I had my android table synced with the desktop version and the bookmarks are still there. I've also retrieved the data i had lost while formatting on an externall hdd, so is there some sort of automatically generated bookmarks backup that i can find within my old files?

Appreciate your help, Regards

I have read some past threads about how to get your bookmarks from Android back to desktop, but they were quite experimental so rather than steer you wrong on that, hopefully someone familiar with the latest thinking on that will contribute to this thread.

On your external hard drive, could you do a global search for the pattern:

*.json

Because some folders may be hidden, you may need to turn off the default Windows behavior of suppressing hidden files from search results. This article has the steps: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/wi.../show-hidden-files.

You can use this to pair a device with your Android device and enter the 12-character code that you get on the desktop computer:

  • Android OS > Settings > Accounts > Firefox Sync > Pair a new Device

Check the Sync options when you have used Sync before and want to keep previously stored data on the Sync server.

  • click the "Sync Options" button at the bottom to select what to sync (Sync Options only affect the first sync)

Select this choice if you want to restore data from the Sync server:

  • "Replace all data on this device with my Sync data"
