Modify data in LDAP server using Thunderbird
Thunderbird is able to find contacts in a LDAP server. However, it would be very interesting to be able to edit/add/erase contacts from the server. If not, it all depends on the LDAP server administrator, and that is not very confortable. Is there a way of doing this?

LDAP directories are usually read-only in enterprise environments. As I understand it, it's not within the scope of Thunderbird to be a full LDAP editor.
Bug 86405 - Make LDAP addressbooks editable is a long-standing bug illustrating this in detail.
Unfortunately as the bug report comments seems to indicate, this is a feature enhancement that is not about to be implemented in the main Thunderbird features.
A quick search for "LDAP" in the Thunderbird extensions didn't seem to bring back anything close to that either. It seems you'd have to use a separate LDAP application such as LDAP Address Book to have full read/write access (assuming your administrator allows this).
