Tbird24.2.1 would send but not receive due to PassWord mistake so to fix removed the pop account from passwords, closed Tbird, opened Tbird but no ask for PW?
TBird 24.2.1 stopped downloading email after a session with Bellaliant to correct their records of my phone number and physical & mail addresses. During the exchange they also checked my pop and smtpa password. I discovered that the password for pop account was mispelled and found a solution from Mozilla Help that essentially required removing the account from the password list accessed by cmd , / security/passwords/saved passwords/show passwords, selecting the pop password and deleting it. The directions were to back out of the options window and TBird then restart TBird which would prompt for the pop password whereby the correct version could be supplied.
PROBLEM: TBird 24.2.1 does NOT ask for the password so it can not be corrected. The method above only allows deletion of accounts with no editing or creation of one available. TBird just sits for 2 or3 minutes trying to access the account and then stops leaving one in the inbox with old email. Please Advise!

If you're not getting the password prompt, Thunderbird cannot connect to the server. In other words, you don't even get that far to be prompted for the password. Check with Bellaliant that you do have the correct server settings.

In the Help Forum it was suggested to delete the account and set up a new one which I did. This got the prompt working again, allowed correction of the password and send and receive going again. One large problem was produced- I lost access to about 7 years of email going back to even the days of using Eudora. I finally found a recovered the files with the iMacs's Mail program which I will have to stay with.
