I just ran your recommended restore/cleanup to speed up Firefox. Now I am invited to install a new version. Two questiions: 1. Will this bring back all the add-ons and extensions I just worked to get rid of? 2. I like google as a search engine. Will I be able to get rid of yahoo which you (why?) propose to replace it with and go back to google? thanks.

hello chisme, no if you have just reset firefox and update firefox to the latest version, it will still stay in the reset (current) state.

the reasons for changing the default search provider in firefox to yahoo are explained in https://blog.mozilla.org/blog/2014/11/19/promoting-choice-and-innovation-on-the-web/ you are of course free as always to set your personally preferred search engine like google or any other choice as your default: Search bar - add, change and manage search engines on Firefox
