Exactly after showing "Mail sent successfully" TB freezes for a minute or more.
I use IMAP on Rackspace and Google accounts (also on IMAP).
Gloda reindexed.
Working on Windows 8.1 64-bit,on a Microsoft Surface Pro 3 . Task Manager says, TB uses about 283 MB of memory.

This solved the trick. Basically changed the SMTP port from 587 to 465. Also changed security from STARTTLS to SSL/TLS.
