Why is Firefox 39 past due?
I was clicking "About Firefox" several times yesterday to update from Firefox 38.0.5 to Firefox 39. It is past 12:30 PM EDT, and Firefox 39 is nowhere to be found anywhere on the Mozilla website or under "About Firefox". It was supposed to be released on June 30. I was able to update iPhones and iPads to iOS 8.4 on the widely anticipated release date of June 30, but Firefox 39 is past due. I was very excited for Firefox to drop support for SSLv3 completely, but is there anyone with Mozilla who can tell me why it's already a whole day late? Again, I checked both the Mozilla website and the "About Firefox" window, and they both say Firefox 38.0.5 is the latest edition of Firefox. Firefox gets a major revision every six weeks, so Firefox 40 will be released on August 11.

hi tjinperspective, firefox 39 is not released yet due to a widespread last minute startup crash (caused by malware on user's system) has been discovered and will be addressed first before the build can go out to a wider audience.

Also, Firefox 38.x will not use SSLv3 if you have the default setting here:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste TLS and pause while the list is filtered
(3) If the security.tls.version.min preference is set to its default value of 1, then Firefox will not connection with anything lower than TLS 1.0. If it is bolded and "user set" to 0 then SSLv3 could be used on sites that do not support a higher protocol. In that case, right-click > Reset the preference to restore the default value.

Firefox 39 was originally scheduled for release last Tuesday. Because of the Mozilla Work Week last week, the release was postponed to this week. Now, due to a bad start-up crash in the current release candidate, Firefox 39 is being postponed until the crash is patched. At this point, the soonest we'll see a release is Wednesday.
This crash issue being on Windows and not OS X or Linux and it may still be later in week.

Just to let you know, I saw that 38.1.0 was released and went to get it at the main url of https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/ and found 39 there. Been using it since yesterday...all is running sweet. On the other hand I have virtually no plug-ins having dumped Flash after just getting sick of it. (You can still watch almost all content on most webpages amazingly enough!)
So you can get 39.0 now at https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/
Maybe everyone knows this already but it is weird it is not on the https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/releases/ page.
It is working flawlessly for me.
