Why won't Firefox open when I click a link in an Excel cell?

I am using Excel in Microsoft Office 2010 and the current version of Firefox (Release 44.0.2). Up until about a month ago, when I clicked a hotlink inside an Excel cell, Firefox opened and and went to that page. Now it doesn't open when I click the link. The link is clearly visible when I hover over the Excel cell or use Insert Hyperlink to view the link. I tried a full refresh of Firefox, but that didn't help. My links in Word (which is also from Microsoft Office 2010) are still working just fine: they open Firefox to the correct page. Why did my Excel links stop opening the page in Firefox?

Make sure that the Excel has it listed as a link and not plain text.
