Firefox won't let me save the security setting necessary to sign into the Veteran's administration web page. Therefore, I have to override the security every time I sign in.

The "Federal Common Policy CA" certificate is currently not in the Firefox certificate store and doesn't show in the Certificate Manager as a (built-in) root certificate.

There is an old bug about adding this certificate to Firefox.

You can consider to import the Federal Common Policy CA and set the trust bit to use the certificate to "Trust this CA to identify websites" to overcome this issue. The server sends this self signed certificate as part of the certificate chain. You can click the Advanced button and click "Add Exception" to open the certificate viewer and then export this certificate and save it to a folder. Then you can import this certificate in the Certificate Manager.

  • Options/Preferences -> Advanced -> Certificates: View Certificates -> Authorities

When prompted set the trust bit to use the certificate to "Trust this CA to identify websites".

Do you mean this website?

Note that not all website servers can be accessed via a secure connection, but at least a log in page should be secure.

This is the site I'm having problems with.

https://vip.vba.va.gov/portal/VBAH/Home

Firefox says connection is not secure. I click Advanced, Add exception, and get to the website. However, I am unable to save the exception permanently so that I don't have to complete all these extra steps each time I sign in. Anyway to save the exception permanently? Cp
