I NEVER USE GOOGLE. I USE DUCK-DUCK GO.

I go to Amazon's Prime video site (not their main search) about once a week. There are many other sites I use more frequently.

So why is the GOOGLE and AMAZON search engine being PINNED to my top sites? I WOULD NEVER DO THAT.

WTH IS GOING ON? THIS IS NOT RIGHT.

Are they the icons with the magnifying glass on them? These are shortcuts to built-in search engine plugins that were added to Top Sites a few versions ago.

To remove a preinstalled Top Site, hover your mouse pointer over the item until an icon of ••• appears in a circle, then click that and choose your preferred action:

  • Unpin: the icon may appear somewhere else in the list now or at a later time
  • Dismiss: the icon will be blocked from the page (this is recorded in the prefs.js file; if it's not remembered, see: How to fix preferences that won't save)

Does that work for you?
