importing a vcard files does not bring in all contacts into Thunderbird
I am on a w10 PC on iCloud on the Contacts tab. I hit the gear settings icon and select ALL and the select export to vcard. It exports and says the correct number of contacts. I go to my email Firefox Thunderbird and select tools/import/address book and go to the download vcard file and select it..it does import so but it does not import all the contacts as named contacts. There are a couple dozen contacts shown on the top of the list as just blank People symbols and then the alphabetic list of remaining contacts. I can notice several names that are not imported and wonder if they are one of these first dozen blank contacts? Any suggestions as to why I get these blank contacts and not the actual contact?

I think the problem may be due to TB supporting vCard v. 2.1, while the iCloud vCard is v. 3.0. I have seen various tools to convert a vcf file to a csv (comma separated values) file, which can be imported to TB. Also, the CardBook add-on supports vCard 3.0.
thank you for your reply..so until TB updates to ver 3.0 I should download the Card Book add on you linked then somehow it will convert the vard from iCloud to a .csv file and then I can add to TB. Are there any TB instructions on how to convert? I downloaded it and it is in my downloads folder but does not appear in the add ons in TB..what am I missing to use this add on?

The CardBook add-on will import the iCloud vCard, but it won't convert it to a csv. Search for something like 'convert vcard to csv'. Once you have a csv, you can import it to TB from Tools/Import...Address books...Text file..., but the process is often difficult for many users. The easiest method is to use CardBook:

Thank you..I misunderstood. What I finally did was to export the vcard from the iCloud. Then I imported that vCard onto my PC and converted it into a .csv file and then into TB.. I only had 252 contacts so it did not take too long but this would be cumbersome for those with larger address books. This was the details I followed..hope the link prints. If not I just googled for a converter from vcard to csv and found it that way. https://support.office.com/en-us/article/import-contacts-from-icloud-vcard-vcf-file-to-outlook-7d23aa76-ae22-43d0-a6df-e6e91bea7d38 Thank you for all your help..maybe some day iCloud and TB will be linked easier...maybe too my notes will help others .
