You are not reading my problem. I know how to set my home page which I have set to custom url. I want yahoo as my home page. When I first open FireFox I get a blank page not the Yahoo page I set as my home page. After I open Firefox and get the blank page I can select the home icon on the upper left side of the screen and the Yahoo page will open. I am trying to find out why it opens to a blank page and not Yahoo. I have another laptop and it works fine.
Please double check the custom URL you've set and try setting it again.
To set the homepage when opening a new tab, click the menu button and select Options. Select Home on the left, and set your desired site for "New Tab".
If that does not work, try Firefox Safe Mode.
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).
If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:
- Click the menu button , click Help and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.
If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
- On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
- On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
- On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".
If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.
To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.

Do you have external cleanup software that might corrupt file in the profile folder or in the disk cache ?
Hi z. bobthomson, it's counterintuitive because it makes Firefox do more work, but one of the affected Yahoo users reported that shortening the Custom URL from the full Yahoo address to merely
yahoo.com
made it work for them. I have no explanation for that.
I tried all of the suggestions you recommended. None of them worked. I shortened the custom URL to yahoo. co m It appears that it fixes the problem. I'm with you, I have no idea why this fixes the problem.
Thanks for the help Bob Thomson
