our computer crashed and I purchased a new computer. the geek squad was able to move the data from the old hard drive to the new computer. we were able to get back to thunderbird but i don't have my local files, address books, and any messages from before the crash. how do i recover those? can i recover those?

Hi @morriswr,

When you say geeksquad was able to move data, how did they move it, and is the data still accessible in the crashed drive?

Ideally if they moved, they should have taken data from the individual "umbrella/main" folders and moved it completely to the new laptop. Also, anything that gets downloaded to "Downloads", "Documents" would need to be be copied the way other things got copied.

Also, you can always recover files/emails from the server login, unless you were POP3 and not IMAP.
