Firefox Daylight (94.1.2) > Secret Settings > Use third party CA certificates (Allows the use of third party certificates from the Android CA store)

1. There are devices with Android Operating System that DO NOT have the possibility of installing certificates in the User's Storage.

2. It seems that Firefox does NOT recognize and accept those certificates that have been installed in the System Storage.

I say "it seems not" because I do not know the root of the problem. However, this has been the case since the "Secret Settings" appeared: Firefox does NOT serve the certificates installed in the System Storage.

And this causes a big problem for all Firefox users whose Android devices only allow to install certificates in the System Storage.

In that situation, Firefox does not work properly when it must interact with another magnificent application such as AdGuard AdBlocker.

Please, note that I do not speak of AdGuard as a Firefox "add-on"...

And, for what you want more, I beg you that, although the approach to this problem may be somewhat difficult to understand, put all your attention on the fact that Firefox seems to fail to use any certificate that has been stored in the System.

I'm just trying to warn everyone about this big bug in the hope that you, guys at Mozilla, can and will fix it.

The github issue you mentioned is about client certificates not third party CAs. So following it will not help the reporter.

Hola, Seburo.

Hello, Seburo.

Muchas gracias por responder.

Thank you very much for answering.

It gives me peace of mind knowing that the engineers are already aware of the problem. ¡Hopefully a solution is found soon!

Hola, _KL_.

Hello, _KL_.

Muchas gracias por responder.

Thank you very much for answering.

Thank you very much for your insight in observing that I am NOT talking about anything related to Github.

The problem, TAKING THE INCIDENCE OF THE SAME AS A REFERENCE ON AdGuard AdBlocker, is as simple as what I have already tried to say:

AdGuard requires the installation of its certificate in User Storage or System Storage. In any of the two places where the certificate is installed and AdGuard will be able to do everything it should do and interact with any application that is on the Android device.

Until now, since the possibility of "Use third party CA certificates" appeared in Firefox, it is only possible to have the correct interaction of Firefox if AdGuard installs its CA certificate in the User Storage.

Because, otherwise, if AdGuard installs its CA certificate in System Storage, Firefox stops interacting properly with AdGuard.

¡And this big glitch is unique and exclusive to Firefox!

¡No other application is "disoriented" by the AdGuard CA certificate being installed in the System Storage!

THE USE OF THIRD PARTY CERTIFICATES FROM THE ANDROID CA STORE»

I invite anyone with the capacity of attention to reread the legend with which Firefox accompanies its proposal for "Use third party CA certificates": «ALLOW THE USE OF THIRD PARTY CERTIFICATES FROM THE ANDROID CA STORE»

Said "Android CA Store" presents two possible storage locations differentiated from each other but with identical response capacity: User Storage and System Storage.

Así que lo repito por última vez: ÚNICAMENTE FIREFOX FALLA AL TENER QUE "PERCATARSE" DE LOS CERTIFICADOS CA INSTALADOS EN EL ALMACENAMIENTO DEL SISTEMA.

So I repeat it for the last time: ONLY FIREFOX FAILS TO HAVE TO "SEE" THE CA CERTIFICATES INSTALLED IN THE SYSTEM STORAGE.

¡Por favor, comuníquenselo a los ingenieros!

¡Please, let the engineers know!

(Note: capital letters in written text are for highlighting, they never represent "screams" ...)
