Thunderbird 102.1.2 (32-bit) on WIN10
I just upgraded to version 102.1.2 and almost all is working fine. However, when I go to my Newsgroups I now need to enter Username and Password.
I have checked the "Use Password Manger to remember this password." It works for that time but then a few minutes later I need to do it all over again!!!
Then when I try to go to Tools>Options>Privacy & Security>Passwords the "Options" link does NOT exist!!!
In all the years of using Thunderbird this has never happened before on a Upgrade to a new version.
Is there a fix for this in another update or is there something I am missing??
Thanks,
Les

Hi David and Christ1,
Well I can now say that my problem with specific Newsgroups is now resolved.
SOoooooo I decided to load the latest version 102.2.0 Once I did I went to the Newsgroup Subscribe page and again searched for the specific Newsgroups. Again NONE showed up as before.
Then, I noticed a button with "Refresh" on it. I tapped it!! System started to acquire a new list!! And once completed, once again I did a search and YES!! They were ALL there!!!
I must assume that the "Refresh" button was there the whole time I just didn't notice or think to tap it. So, problem resolved.
Thanks for all the hints and stuff!! I should sleep well tonight... Zzzzzzzz
Have a good weekend, when it gets here!!
Les

Do you think that I should post this as a Bug or something??
As there is nothing else I can think of, raising a bug sounds like a good idea. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/
@christ1: Just a comment from the side: I have 102 and am having no problem on newsgroups. Id and password are remembered from one session to another. Reporting this as a bug may be premature. Either that, or something we're not seeing is at work. (Note to poster: Tools>Settings, as of 102. It used to be Tools>options.)
Ok David,
Let's try this if you don't mind. The following are a few newsgroups that I had subscribed to previously. The first one is the only one that came up and I was already subscribed to with a check mark in the box. The others are non-existent on the listing when I do a search. Even when I search for one word such as "basic". Nothing shows up.
alt.security.alarms sci.electronics.basic rec.woodworking sci.electronics.repair sci.electronics.design
If you can pull them up easily then it tells me that the load that I have is flawed in someway. How and what to do about it is the mystery.
Thanks for the help.
Les
They come right up.
WOW!!!
Ok, so now what can I do??
I don't know your specifics. I use eternal-september. Could it be your news server? My suggestion is to remove the account completely, including passwords, and start over. As I said earlier, I'm no guru on newsgroups, but going slowly on each step generally works. GOod luck.
David,
I certainly don't know what "eternal-september" might be??
Removing the account and reload is what I had do previously. At first when I did that there were zero (0) newsgroups listed. Then christ1 then suggested turning off something, which I did and that is when I got the list of newsgroups and where I am presently!! Are you thinking that I should do that again??
Thanks,
Les
eternal-september is a news server that I occasionally use. What you might try is to ensure you set your account to authenticate at accountsettings>serversettings.
I certainly don't know what "eternal-september" might be??
I guess Google would help solving that problem. It's a popular free news server. It requires registration though. And it seems to also carry your missing newsgroups. https://www.eternal-september.org/
Ok Guys,
I will investigate that and see what happens. Can't right now but will later. I will report back the results.
Thanks for the input!!
Les
Hello again Guys,
Now that I have been notified that version 102.2.0 is now available. What do you think the odds are that my original problem will go away if I load it on my system??
Or, is that just wishful thinking??
Thanks,
Les
If Christ1 gave you a suggestion that worked, why not continue it? I will be (pleasantly) surprised if a new release addresses your issue. I still think there is something in the setup.
David,
I agree to a point. I already have way to many hours invested in this problem. I have started the process suggested by christ1 but there seems to be something I need to do in order to get logged in that does not easily show up in the process. My present work load is excessive with my business and I just don't have the time right now.
BTW I find the set up process a bit challenging when it requires so many background steps to get it to work. Everything is easy when you have already did it a few times. The first time is not, especially this particular process.
I will get there, just don't know when.
Thanks,
Les
