att.net email uses a "Secure Mail Key" authentication method... and it seems each time I allow Thunderbird to update itself, it 'loses' my att.net email password, forcing me to go back to att.net and start over, creating what AT&T calls "Secure Mail Keys".

My other email accounts (e.g., aol.com) don't have any issues following Thunderbird updates.

Is this a known issue with Thunderbird updates, somehow specific to 'secure mail keys'?

Well.... after several minutes following the Thunderbird upgrade, my att.net email account starting working again with the original saved password. So now I'm not sure if the issue was related to the Thunderbird upgrade or coincidentally some intermitent issue on the AT&T side.

Or a stored password in a password manager outside of Thunderbird. Some antivirus programs include them in their suite.
