I just want to be able to access emails from Google Takeout. I don't need an actual email account, just to be able to read the old emails from .mbox file. I have the .mbox file downloaded, but when I try to open, nothing shows up.

I tried to watch a video but Thunderbird has updated and looks different from when the video was created. Are there easy step by step updated directions to do this?

And how do I wipe the stored data when uninstalling Thunderbird? I tried to uninstall to start from scratch and it kept the stored account information.

Add your gmail, or other, account to TB so that Local Folders is created. Then, open the profile folder from Help/Troubleshooting Info, Profile Folder, Open Folder, close TB, copy the Takeout file to Mail/Local Folders, remove the .mbox extension, restart TB, find the folder under Local Folders in the Folder Pane.

Otherwise, search for a free mbox viewer.
