My email provider has changed the sign-in procedure, it now needs the full email address instead of just the portion before the @ sign. How can I get Firefox to remember the whole address now?

Previous to the email provider changing the sign-in procedure I could just enter the first letter of my username, which was the part of the email address before the @ sign. Firefox then entered the rest of the username for me. Now I have to enter the whole email address as the username, but Firefox only remembers the old username, i.e. only half of the username. How can I get Firefox to remember the new username?

You can try to remove the old name if Firefox doesn't offer to store the new name.

Remove saved Password(s): Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" > "Show Passwords"


Some sites like PayPal, Yahoo, Windows Live and bank sites use autocomplete="off" to prevent Firefox from saving and filling the name and the password.

If a site uses autocomplete="off" then look at this article for a bookmarklet to remove that autocomplete attribute and Firefox will offer to store the name and password.
