Just changed to Firefox and trying to set up favorite sites and save new ones. Seems cumbersome. Also, don't want to save all my history unless I put it into favorites or I guess in your case bookmarks? Also, don't want every page showing across top of screen.

'Bookmarks' are Mozilla's term for Microsoft's 'Favourites'.

To import them from another browser, see: Import data from another browser

Also, see: History settings

To save a site to your Bookmarks, double click the star symbol and choose a folder to save it to.

You can rearrange the layout like this:

  • Right click a blank part of the tab bar and click "Tabs on top" to remove the checkmark. Tabs will subsequently reappear below the search bar.

  • Repeat the same steps, but click the top one called "Menu bar". This will reinstate the text links at the top.

  • To rearrange the layout, repeat the same steps again and choose "Customize". A panel will open and while that remains onscreen, you can move elements like toolbars, buttons etc around and place them anywhere you wish. You can also drag anything you don't like into that panel and add anything you want by dragging it out of there.

  • To replace the status bar at the foot of the page, install this add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/status-4-evar/

One other thing since it's a question which often crops up. You won't see a lock symbol when you go to a SSL page. That's been replaced with the Site Identity button.

You can however replace it by installing this add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/padlock-icon
