google search bring me back to home page
This has been happening more and more often now. Many times when I click on a search result link after searching through the Google search bar on top, I get brought back to the home page instead of going to the site in the search result page. I tried clicking on the back button but it just brings me back to page BEFORE the search results page, which is very strange and frustrating. There doesn't seem to be a way to go to the search results unless I quit and restart the browser.

I noticed this happens less often (or not at all, maybe) when you are not logged in with your Google account. Are you logged in to Google, or maybe Google+ even?
When I'm logged in to Google+ and click a search result after using the searchbar in Firefox, I get to see the Google homepage. Clicking the Back button brings me to the page I visited before using the search bar, not back to the search results.
It's definitely an annoying workaround to log out just to be able to click search results, but it could help isolating the problem.
Also, you can open the search results by middle-clicking them and opening them in a new link. Not a solution either, but less annoying than restarting the browser. ;)

Has any solution been found for this? I've been running Aurora 11 up until today. Yesterday it started loading google's home search page whenever I click on a google search result. It doesn't seem to make any difference whether or not I'm logged into my google profile. Very annoying, it's almost impossible after decades of surfing to remember to right click to open in a new tab instead of just clicking on the search result!
This can be caused by an extension.
Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
- Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
