I have not updated to the latest version of Firefox because the Advanced Viewer at Ancestry.com is disabled by this update. I am a professional genealogist and use the advanced viewer daily.

Until I am notified that the issue with the Advanced Viewer at Ancestry.com has been corrected, I will not update Firefox. The inability to use the Advanced Viewer is a critical issue for me. The event hasn't happened yet. You stated in your update information that the Advanced Viewer at Ancestry.com would be disable. I then cancelled the install.

It appears the site and its full features may not be open to the general unregistered public. I would suggest as a first step you contact them and ask

  • what exactly is the problem ?
  • which versions of firefox are supported ?
  • do they expect compatibility with firefox 8 and later versions ?
    • if so when ?

Note you may report problems using firefox's feedback, but I am not sure that will do anything more than log your concerns. (You may even need to be using the current version of firefox to use that)

If you post back with further info, and the site's answers other suggestions may be forthcoming.
