I use operamail for my email. I have it bookmarked. It is on my bookmark toolbar. Issue is this: Every time I click on an email link Firefox wants to open Opera. I want Firefox to open a new tab with my Operamail page, like it does when I click on the link on my bookmark toolbar. How do I get Firefox to open a new tab with my Operamail account when I click on an email link?

Do you actually mean FastMail? operamail.com simply redirects to fastmail.fm.

The steps for adding a new mailto handler are described in the FastMail wiki:

If you actually meant mail.opera.com, that's a separate service. In that case, the correct step 5 should be

javascript:window.navigator.registerProtocolHandler("mailto","https://mail.opera.com/m/mail/compose:to=%s","My Opera Mail")

Once you've added the new handler, make sure it's selected as the action for mailto under Options - Applications.
