I want to downgrade to Firefox 15.0.1

I was using Firefox 15.0.1 and I clicked the "check for updates" button and instead of just checking for updates it went and installed Firefox 16.0.2.

Now I do not want Firefox 16 as I do not trust it. I don't care what you say I do not want Firefox 16.

How do I go about downgrading back to Firefox 15.0.1 (even though it was getting sluggish on me). I think I will be using Internet Explorer 9 until I get an answer on how I can downgrade back to Fx15.

Also how do I set firefox for manual updating?

You can do it.

Download the offline installer of Firefox 15.0.1 from here.

Edit: Link had a typo that broke it. Fixed it.

Your link does not work! Did you check that link befofre posting?

Also you didn't answer half of my other questions either.

Please don't come back until you provide a working link and answer my other questions.

Can a mod please close this as I have found what I was looking for on another site.

On yahoo answers someone else wanted to downgrade and someone there said try system restore. I had never thought of trying that.

So I tried it and it worked. I am back onto Firefox 15.0.1.

Sorry Mozilla but I am beginning to lose all trust in you. The way you handled the release of Fx16 was a total freaking shambles.

What kind of company are you that you don't check to make sure that the browser (Fx16) works before releasing it?

I can now see why you are in third place behind Chrome and I.E. At least they check to make sure things work before releasing it.

There is always the possibility that security software (firewall,anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program if Firefox no longer works properly after updating.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

See:

If Firefox 15 also isn't working properly then try a new profile.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works better then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

You can also try to reset Firefox:

I don't understand any of that gibberish you just wrote.

Also didn't you read, I have got Firefox 15.0.1 back thanks to doing system restore on my PC.

None of what you gave out in that copy and pasted rubbish response helps me in the slightest. I really hate copy and pasted responses that do nothing to help the person.

That crap copy pasted answer did nothing. Also you failed to mention how I could downgrade, if downgrading would lose me my bookmarks and no mention of wheather or not 16 was safe and no mention of why Firefox is so slow.

How do I put a complaint in about you for wasting my time with your crap copy and pasted rubbish response.

Sorry you can't accept that Firefox is slow. Internet Explorer beats it for speed.

The only reason I use Firefox is because I have been using it as my main browser for years and all my bookmarks are on it and it has Ad-Block+ which I.E hasn't got. If it wasn't for that I would be on I.E9 like a shot.

Firefox what happened to you. You used to be brilliant but now you are turning into a pile of junk.

I haven't been online since you wrote that first response above and only read it just now.
You should always take such things into consideration before drawing conclusions, so please use a more moderate tone.

A lot of issues with Firefox not working properly after an update are caused by security software that doesn't report clearly that they are blocking Firefox and reverting to a previous version like you did can fix this for now, but this should never be final solution.

Other issues can be caused by corrupted files in the Firefox Profile Folder that might be more easily fixed by a Firefox reset in your case, but a reset can't be undone and creating a new profile via the Profile Manager can be undone.

There is nothing wrong with Firefox 16 compared to Firefox 15 and you will make yourself extra vulnerable to security vulnerabilities by reverting to Firefox 15.

Which changes in Firefox 16 don't you like?
There are a lot of possibilities to revert such changes via direct settings on the about:config page by using extensions.

Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have in case you haven't looked into this?

For crying out loud you are still not getting it are you.

Listen I did not intend on upgrading to Firefox 16. It was an accident. I thought I had my settings set to "CHECK FOR UPDATES AND LET ME MANUAL INSTAL"! Wrong! I had them set for Check for updates and automatically instal"! That is why I did system restore to get back to Fx15.

I did not use 16.0.2. As soon as I saw I couldn't stop the update I stopped using Firefox. I went and started using the more SECURE, FASTER Internet Explorer 9 which I have as my secondary browser. I didn't go back to Firefox until I saw that system restore answer over at yahoo answers

OK then if Fx16 is so secure then why did you withdraw it the second it came out? Because it is full of gaping security holes.

No I think I will stick to the more secure Fx15.0.1 thank you very much.

Oh and just to let you know I am not alone in thinking that Fx has become terribly slow. My mum has stopped using Firefox on her P.C and gone back to Internet Explorer and Safari on her iPad is at times beating Firefox on pace.

Also Xbox Live launched Internet Explorer last week and I am totally positive it is hammering Firefox for speed. A console browser is beating you.

I have been using Firefox for 3 years and I have NEVER seen you remove an update before now.

Someone on another forum told me they were using Firefox 17.0.1 beta and if I knew how to get it I would.

I really hope Fx17.0.1 doesn't suffer the same problems as I really need to update this sluggish slow browser.

What the hell has happened to Firefox. It used to be brilliant but now it is becoming a joke. No wonder I.E and Chrome are hammering you.

Check for updates has been "check for updates and install if any found" for a long time now. It does not mean "Check to see if I have latest update version" as a minority like you seem to misread it as.

cor-el is one of the most knowledgeable and versatile support volunteers here and on forums.mozillazine.org (under a different name) I have seen over several years when it comes to Firefox, yet you seem to think completely the opposite. There were many times when he came up with solutions that many other experienced members were not aware of.

Your attacks are very uncalled for. If you want help then be nice, if you do not want help then be rude and nobody including cor-el will volunteer their time in helping you in solving your issue in future as those that may post may be ones with not much more knowledge about Firefox than the little you know if you are lucky.

There is no 17.0.1 beta as the current test Beta is 17.0b5. I could give you a Mozilla site link but I think you can go find it yourself ;)
